MSNBC Morning Mania

The 9-10 AM segment of MSNBC News was anchored by Camron Hall. She announced that they were waiting for tape of the meeting between The President and President Medvadev of Russia.

A few minutes later they began showing the tape, which included a significant off-the-cuff statement by President Obama. This was repeatedly interrupted by "breaking news" type announcement from Camron Hall. The first showed the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange. The seconds was a fluff piece about Michelle Obama's clothing for her upcoming meeting with The Queen and informed commentary that she would not be executing a curtsy because this was not a state visit.

I can only presume that this madness of interrupting real news with nonsense is whoring for ratings. Perhaps the producers have access to real time numbers show their viewership. This would enable them to assess the impact of the stories shown in the previous segments and would suggest which stories to reshow to increase their viewership.
